What's the difference between priority date and NOA1?
We got mail today from USCIS saying out i130 has been recieved. A priority date is noted at the top. What exactly is a priority date? Is this the NOA1?

i think it is the same
mister AMar 5, 2021
your priority date is the day USCIS received your application and your NOA1 is your application receipt. in case you haven't got a receipt, kindly wait for them to mail it to you. you should get it within two weeks from when USCIS notified you that they received your application

K KeysMar 5, 2021
Right so we submitted February 26th and the Priority date on our letter we recieved today says February 26th..
mister AMar 5, 2021
does the letter consist of your case number and online access?
K
K KeysMar 5, 2021
It says form i797C Notice of Action at the top. It has our reciept number, but not a case number that I can see (unless that's the same thing)
K
K KeysMar 5, 2021
We submitted everything online if that makes a difference.
mister AMar 5, 2021
you're right on track. that's your NOA 1. Your receipt number is your case number. it starts with three letters which indicates service cebters. followed by digits. submitting online is faster and easy to track
Esther MontgomeryMar 5, 2021
ur case number should start with IOE then number
K
K KeysMar 5, 2021
Great ! Thank you very much. So the next thing we should expect to change won't be for a few months, and it will be an update that they're looking at the case... is that right?
mister AMar 5, 2021
@Esther. True. you will have to make enquiry on where your processing center is and pray it's Texas
K
K KeysMar 5, 2021
Ours is Nebraska according to the bottom of the page.
mister AMar 5, 2021
Nebraska takes up to a year to get an NOA2 I think
K
K KeysMar 5, 2021
I saw on a FB group that some from Nebraska with simple cases/low risk countries are getting their visa sent to NVC in 3-5 months. It is what it is. At least it's in progress.
mister AMar 5, 2021
@ Katie they will update you soon that your case is being actively reviewed
K
K KeysMar 5, 2021
So soon we will get notice that it's being actively reviewed, then any requests for evidence, then approved and sent to NVC?
mister AMar 5, 2021
To be more sure, check the USCIS official page for processing times. They differ according to centers. California is a nightmare
mister AMar 5, 2021
Pray you don't get an RFE because once you get an RFE, your case will be put to a pause until you send the required evidence. that's the reason why I have a delayed response from USCIS
K
K KeysMar 5, 2021
The website doesn't seem to have a spot for spouse over 21 years old. Bizzare. https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/
mister AMar 5, 2021
Check CRI category for Nebraska processing times
K
K KeysMar 5, 2021
I don't see that there either. Just the I form numbers.
mister AMar 5, 2021
I just checked, it says 5-7 months for CR1 (i-130)
K
K KeysMar 5, 2021
That's great. So in 5-7 months it will move to the NVC stage (in theory)
mister AMar 5, 2021
yes theoretically if there's no backlog from USCIS due to covid or an RFE. Did you involved a lawyer or you did it by yourself?
K
K KeysMar 5, 2021
We did it ourselves. Our case is simple (Canada to US, no previous marriages, no kids etc) so we figured we could manage it ourselves using forums and apps like this.
K
K KeysMar 5, 2021
So we may get an RFE in the next bit? We didn't get to submit any photos or anything like that when we first submitted it, so I was thinking I'd put that together incase they ask.
mister AMar 5, 2021
There's nothing wrong so far. Lawyers doesn't really do anything at this stage than to collect your money and file for you. They even tend to make mistakes which you may not make if you were filing yourself. You guys can use your money to buy some great tacos and coffee, sit back and wait it out 😂
K
K KeysMar 5, 2021
The waiting bit is going to be the worst part. I just want to check it every chance I get. 😂 Thanks so much for your help!!
mister AMar 5, 2021
Oh you're definitely getting an RFE. You're supposed to add photos. photos is the key evidence in your case plus marriage certificate then notary letters from relatives that attended your wedding is a brownie point
S
Sam SamMar 6, 2021
@ Katie what Facebook group is that
K
K KeysMar 6, 2021
We did the marriage certificate, but only had his parents, grandparents and friend at the wedding (thanks covid..). But can definitely provide photos. The RFE won't come until we get notice our case is being reviewed right? How long do you think it is til it's being reviewed?
K
K KeysMar 6, 2021
FB groups CR1(I-130)/IR1/K1 US Visa Processing Help K1, CR1, IR1, I-130, US VISA HELP & GUIDANCE
mister AMar 6, 2021
the RFE won't come up untill the next two to three months. make sure you're checking regularly. I know it can be exhausting and frustrating so check at least once a week so you won't delay when you get an RFE. The quicker the response, the better
K
K KeysMar 6, 2021
Can we check just through the USCIS case status check page, or only by fully logging in? It's linked to my husband's email because we didn't think to hook it to a mutual one.
w chuksMar 6, 2021
pd 3.7.20 Nebraska i130 still no answers just a receipt
K
K KeysMar 6, 2021
What country is the beneficiary?
mister AMar 6, 2021
you can still login with your husband's email. tell him to send all the login information to you or you can just track the case with the case number on USCIS page through case status
mister AMar 6, 2021
@chuks does it say nothing is outstanding at this time whenever you track your case?
K
K KeysMar 6, 2021
it's 2 step verification that goes to his phone whenever we log in. easier to just use the case number page so long as it's just as accurate. I'll still keep on him to check it regularly.
mister AMar 6, 2021
you're the one in Canada and your husband is in United States right?
K
K KeysMar 6, 2021
Yes
w chuksMar 6, 2021
@elijah it just says it's processing
mister AMar 6, 2021
it's better that you login in case (God forbid) you'll need to create an SR and your husband is busy
w chuksMar 6, 2021
@katie Nigeria
K
K KeysMar 6, 2021
What's an SR?
mister AMar 6, 2021
@chuks I wish I could see a screenshot but keep your fingers crossed since you filed July last year. you should get a response soon. hopefully in a month
mister AMar 6, 2021
@Katie. Service Request in case your case is outside processing time
w chuksMar 6, 2021
@Elijah thank you
K
K KeysMar 6, 2021
My husband's not usually too busy. He works for his own company, whereas I am employed somewhere so generally he can stop and do whatever if needed. But checking the case status every 5 minutes is unfortunately not needed 😂
mister AMar 6, 2021
No you don't have to check every five minutes. you'll be exhausted and might lead to anxiety. you have to pretend like your case doesn't exist 😂
K
K KeysMar 6, 2021
I was waiting on a COVID test result for travel a few weeks ago that was supposed to be back within 72h and I went from checking my email 5-10 times to my phone saying I opened it over 100 times in a day 😂😂😂😇
mister AMar 6, 2021
😂😂😂😂😂 you better get used to pretending like something doesn't exist or you might learn in a hard way. nowadays I just go about my business pretending my case doesn't exist cos I used to go paranoid and moody each time I check my timeline and it says the same over and over again.
K
K KeysMar 6, 2021
I think once I'm out of self isolation and back to work I'll be busier 😂
mister AMar 6, 2021
you just returned back from United States?
mister AMar 6, 2021
I got 10% on today probability in this app. does that mean a good thing?
K
K KeysMar 6, 2021
wish I could tell you!
mister AMar 6, 2021
it was 9% before now. it's not easy to stay clueless I tell you
K
K KeysMar 6, 2021
