I-130 Service center clarification
Hi everyone, Recently only I filed I-130 for my spouse. In the receipt I recieved mentions California Service center on the bottom. But in the USCIS online portal , it was showing my case was processing in Nebraska Sevice center. Which is correct. ?? Did anyone have same situation like this?

call the center and ask. a lot of onlines initially show Nebraska and then it’s really somewhere else. mine showed Nebraska online. receipt came from Texas but reps told me it’s really in California

There are Benefits Centers like NBC and Nebraska etc. These are Centers that received the Case Packages. Processing is then handled electronically at several other Centers called Visa Centers that process mostly the 130 petitions. These visa centers adjudicate 130 forms that usually require contact with Embassies worldwide to verify beneficiary information etc. Due to backlogs some 765s are distributed electronically to other centers for processing support. Your case remains at the benefit center while processing of various forms are going on electronically at other sites, this explains the confusion with receipts from those centers. Just be rest assured they know what they are doing. The only issue is their timeframe is totally messed up. I hope this helps everyone.

@Z.A. thanks. can you clarify something. when an application is marked as “received by USCIS” does that mean it’s just technically sitting on a shelf waiting for your turn to be picked up by an officer? and when it does it gets changed to “activley reviewing”. been seeing a lot of different views on this. thanks

@liz: A while ago an officer explained the delayed process with files arriving at the Chicago Box. He stated that it took approximately 2 weeks for them to get to arriving mail then it finally gets entered into the system as received. It was taking about 4-6 weeks for a receipt notice to go out at that time (Dec-Jan 2021). I believe they have entered your application into the system and it’s in queue to processed. I cannot say specifically at what stage it is. That will be a guess. Things a picking up for them so I have seen cases moving quicker than a year ago this time. We have been waiting for 6 months after our interview with a home visit on the 3rd month. We just hope we are not dormantly on some shelf somewhere. Good Luck my friend.
