Honestly “No”, so far as she is not the beneficiary, you should be fine. These are hard times and the Public Charge rule implemented by the past Administration seems to be fading. I assume you are the beneficiary and that should not apply to you. USCIS has a focus on if the beneficiary has a potential of becoming a financial burden for the country. My opinion only. 🙏🏾

Again, my opinion only. Starting out as an immigrant in the US could be challenging for many new immigrants. Benefits to support new immigrants and individuals who are asylum seekers have always been given that temporary start. The previous Administration totally missed that aspect of things. I do have a strong feeling it is going to change as these reversal are being put in place by the New Administration. Thanks for asking and again my opinion only.

@Svetlana: The stimulus check is not considered a Public Charge. If u filed taxes in the US. It is yours.

come on we are here for processing USCIS about families coming over 🤦‍♂️ not about food stamps and you will be trouble if you feel about the food stamp seriously

Foodstamps is considered part of Public Charge which has become part of the USCIS Processing if you missed the I-944.

does the supplemental security income I have been receiving until May 2019 on behalf of my us born 4 years old son counted as a public charge against me or my wife? I am appllying for green card and filling up form I-944. I don't know if I should answer'yes' to #16 part 3 of I-944.

@Janak: Check with your attorney. If you are the beneficiary then it’s a must to note you received SSI checks. Your SSN will bring it up so do not attempt to omit it. It could come back and hunt you when USCIS finds out.

@ Z.A. Original, thank you so much. I was not the direct beneficiary. my son was approved for the benefit. as he was a minor, I used to receive the payment on his behalf.

@Muhammad sulayman, I think you misunderstood my question, my spouse wants to get food stamps and am on inquiry if her getting the food stamps will affect my green card process negatively. Am not getting any food stamps personally bro

@praise goodman I was also worried about this as my spouse used to get food stamp for himself and kids...so when this public charge started I was worried and told him to cut it off🤦🏽‍♀️ Then I was told by a lawyer that it has Nothing to do with me because I’m not on the food stamp case....I also have a friend who is a USC and receives food stamps, Medicaid and housing and she filed for her spouse with no problem

@Kellz Thanks so much because this has been a threat to me but am rest assured now. thanks y’all for your candid and honest advice and concern

ZA and Obama care? It the care act subsidied health plan considered a public charge? A full plan is very expensive

@Svetlana: Honestly, I cannot answer this question as I don’t know where the Obama Care falls in terms of the Public Charge. I am inclined to say it doesn’t fall under the Public Charge. Please verify.
