Eligible for L1A extension?
I entered US in 2014 on L1B. In 2017 I applied and got a L1A and in 2019 I got extension of L1A for 2 more years. Given that max duration of L1A is 7 years, will my stay in L1B count towards these 7 years or am I eligible for one more extension? My 485 and 765 were filed in Oct 20 and I'm seeing delays in EAD issuance. My current visa expires in July. If the EAD is not issued by then I'll be out of status for work unless I renew my L1A but I'm not sure if I'm eligible for a renewal given I've been in US for 7 years (L1B and L1A combined). I just want to be safe and stay in status to be eligible to work. Thanks for your time and advice.

I was in similar situation, but I changed from L1A to L1B. first I would suggest you to check your status with your immigration lawyer. But I learned from my case that L1A - L1B -H1B are all nonimgration visa categories and so, even you changing from L1B to L1A (or oposite) you carry the time that you spent in the previous status to the new one. Also I learned that the 7 years max extension for L1A and 5 years for L1B are only considered for the period that you really stayed in US ( so you can request the time you spent abroad if there is any ) last and no less important, my L1A visa expired in Jun 2020 (date that I applied for L1B) however at that time I was informed that I was eligible to stay working in US for additional 180 days counting from visa expiration independently of the USCIS decision about my visa extension.
