Has anyone tried to file an expedite request for EAD/AP with assistance from a congressperson’s office?

I did and they declined my request to expedite it. Basically, what I’ve heard is that they are useless (the congresspersons), however that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t try! Try it, contact your congressman office and send all the paperwork you have, but be realistic and don’t hold your breath!

@uros: How long did it take for them to deny that expedite request? Did you try to call USCIS and expedite it yourself after your congressman was unsuccessful in helping you?

It took them a couple of days to deny it (I think 5 or 7 business days). I didn’t try calling the USCIS afterwards and expediting the EAD, I just figured we all have to wait, however I am thinking about doing just that. What’s your experience on this?

@uros: I called USCIS directly. They asked for evidence 7 days later; I faxed the evidence over and was denied 5 days after. That’s why I’m curious about senator or congressman route.

Definitely try it out. Can’t hurt if you try, but keep your expectations to a minimum. What is your processing center, receipt date and priority date?
