After GC approval
Is it true that one is stuck with the sponsor employer for at least 6 months after green card approval? Or was it a myth?

@Prabhu 007 was this written anywhere by uscis, or anyone with experience of their gc being taken away for not staying with the sponsor employer?

You can leave the exact minute you get your GC in hand. No law requires you to stay an additional minute.

You are all correct but it may or may not be an issue at the point of filing for citizenship.

it’s not written anywhere.. but when we file for i485, we attach a job offer letter which states that employer is offering permanent job to applicant and hence he should be given GC… so in good faith and to avoid trouble during citizenship stay with employer for some time..

I don’t mean that it causes trouble for sure.. but if one has a doubt he should act deligently at all times..

@Prabhu 007 thank you for your insight.. yea I understand. Uscis should also know that each case takes years before (and if) petitioner gets a gc, and during those years it was considered working years under EAD. Things and phases in life change over time. Hope they see the real issue the delay is causing.
